Bobby Renz is a producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from San Francisco, CA. Growing up a self taught musician, attempting to make music on anything that makes noise, Bobby recently made the move into professional studio work at Different Fur Studios in San Francisco and now produces, writes and engineers with the team. Currently he is the leader of SF based band White Knuckles, plays live in multiple other projects and is also continuously working on various productions out of Different Fur.
After getting a toy drum kit at the age of 3 and mimicking his favorite live Phil Collins VHS, he did a quick tour through the elementary school band on trombone and cello and then found the electric guitar and found his sound. By the age of 13 he got his first 4 track recorder and started recording himself but quickly joined bands that were using more up to date computer software. Bobby did his first full length record with The Buttercream Gang at the original Panda Studios in East Oakland at the age of 17 and has been in love with the recording process ever since. Continually collecting instruments over his youth, Bobby’s college house had guitars, basses, banjos, mandolins, drums, lots of percussion, saxophones, a clarinet and multiple keyboards; all of which were used for new inspiration and writing. He is constantly looking to create and find new sounds, textures and song structures in the studio.
